     Report for field surveys September 2010

PROJECT “PREPARING A STUDY FOR VALORIZATION OF THE NATURAL VALUES OF MULTIPURPOSE AREA JASEN”

By the President of the Exploring Society  Ursus speleos "Skopje, Ali Samet, to the representative of PEMPMA “YASSEN”-Skopje, Gordana Janakievska was requested permission (oral) for field survey in Yassen, but because of activities related to hunting permission for research was not granted.

By the team-leader of Exploring Society "Ursus speleos" Skopje, Biljana Gichevski,to  the representative of PEMPMA “YASSEN”- Skopje, Gordana Janakievska was submitted a list of researchers and requested permission for field research in Boro Pole and the Valley of river Ocha. However, due to hunting in these areas was not obtained permission for research. By PEMPMA “YASSEN”- Skopje folowing areas were proposed: Urnat Kamen and Rudine for field surveys. The team from Ursus speleos "Skopje determine the location Urnat Kamen. The team headed to the given place, but because of bad weather condition (rain) the planned research was canceled.

By the team-leader of Exploring Society "Ursus speleos" Skopje, Biljana Gichevski, to the representative of PEMPMA “YASSEN”- Skopje, Gordana Janakievski was submitted a list of researchers and requested permission for field research in Boro Pole and the Valley of river  Ocha. However, due to hunting in these areas was obtained permission to explore the locality of Urnat Kamen. The research team its activity (setting traps, photography, analysis, searching snake habitats etc.) implemented in the following areas: Urnat Kamen, Vogjanska Buka and Kopanje.

By Exploring Society Ursus speleos "-Skopje to PEMPMA “YASSEN”- Skopje, was submitted a request for permit for field surveys in the Valley of Ocha and the poligenetic surface Boro Pole, via e-mail for the period from 08-09.09.2010. PEMPMA “YASSEN”- Skopje, granted the permission.
Early in the morning the exploring team arrived in Kula with 3 (three) terrain vehicles. After the team took the guide from “Jasen”, they went through the valley of the river Ocha. There where few stops through the valley so each expert can conduct a survey for its field of interest (setting traps, sketching small caves, marking different types of plants, taking samples from algae’s and plants, marking birds, analyzing forests etc. ) After the arrival in Selishte, the group split in two small groups. The first one stayed in Selishte to find and mark small caves and reptiles, and the second one went to Boro Pole to conduct a biological and surface geomorphologic survey. After they finished their work, one group went home and the other one went on Boro Pole for overnight.

09.09.2010 Year (Thursday) 

By Exploring Society Ursus speleos Ursus speleos "-Skopje to PEMPMA “YASSEN”- Skopje, was submitted a request for permit for field surveys in the Valley of Ocha and the polygenetic surface Boro Pole, via e-mail for the period from 08-09.09.2010.. PEMPMA “YASSEN”- Skopje, granted the permission. Because the group needed to sleep over on Boro Pole, PEMPMA “YASSEN” send a guide from their staff to be with the group all the time. The field surveys started in the evening (08.09.2010) after the arrival on Boro Pole and continued in the morning (09.09.2010), because the explorers had to make surveys about the night birds and the environment where reptiles have habitats. Early in the morning on (09.09.2010) other types of surveys also started (marking shaped depressions, sketching one small cave, setting traps, making photos, taking GPS coordinates etc. ) At 09.00 o’clock the team was gathered and together they went on Milenkov Kamen. Cavers were conducting surveys on few pits, (taking photographs, sketching, GPS coordinates) and the experts from the Biological team in the area of Milenkov Kamen where analyzing invertebrates, herpetology and ornithology. After the planning surveys where done, the team gathered again and together they went on foot to Boro Pole, and after that with vehicles they went back to Kula, and from there they left the area of “Jasen”.

11.09.2010 (Saturday)

For this day the team from Exploring Society “Ursus Speleos” requested permission for field research in the area of Patiska Reka. Permission was granted. But because of the bad weather conditions (heavy rain), the planned surveys in Patishka Reka were canceled. The Jasen staff on Kula was informed.  

12.09.2010 (Sunday) 

After the previously granted permission from PEMPMA “YASSEN” the team from Exploring Society “Ursus Speleos” conducts their field surveys in Ivanje (locality called Turcin Dol) as planned. The team had 2 (two) guides from “Jasen”. After the previously obtained data, about some speleo object, the team went for a search. Small caves where explored (Ajducka dupka 1, Ajducka dupka 2, few others.)The other analyses where from various areas, fungi, spiders and invertebrates. The other team from ES “Ursus Speleos”- Skopje went to Patishka Reka for field surveys, because the previous day because of the heavy rain they had to cancel their work. In this area field surveys about birds and invertebrates were conduct.

25.9.2010 Year (Saturday) 

For this day, the team from ES “Ursus Speleos” – Skopje planned to conduct a survey for fungi in the area through the valley of the river Ocha. Permission was requested and granted, But because of the bad weather conditions (heavy rain), again, the survey was canceled. The staff from “Jasen” was informed. 

26.09.2010 (Sunday) 

For this day ES “Ursus Speleos” requested a permission for research of fungi from PEMPMA “YASSEN”  in he Valley of the river Ocha. Because of the bad weather conditions (heavy rain and wind) the team for fungi canceled their planned activities. The other part of the team from ES “Ursus Speleos”, where visiting the Cave Rescue training that was held in Jasen. Also they helped the instructors from Slovenia and Croatia to locate pits for the training, and conduct surveys on Peoni 1 and Peoni 4 pits. The team took GPS coordinates, sketching, and geomorphologic description, taking samples of cave fauna and making photos.
